annaysis of front cover

"Kerrang" is a very catchy name because its bold and powerful. This front cover is very clear with its big title and main sell. The font they have used for "Kerrang" is like broken glass. They have used this because it represents the harsh powerful sound of the word "kerrang". They have used few colours on this cover, they have only used black, red and white. however this is effective as it connects everything together. It also reflects the type of target audience becuase the readers would wear dark clothes and be into harsh bold and powerful music aswell as colours. These colours also link into the main picture of Biffy Clyro, the clothes are plain and have a "hard-metal" atmosphere about them. "unfold the puzzle of life..." is rather abstract and it an enigma to make the readers want to find out more and for the phrase to explain itself. The main sell is about Biffy Clyro so they have used a picture of him as it main photo. This gives a clear indication of what type of music it is and also what the main story is about. I think they have used a "triangle" formation with the three band members to show the main singer in the front and this indicates that the story will be either an interview with him or just about him. There is a bar code at the bottom of the cover that also says the date and price of the magazine (£4.50). Some of the other storys presented in this magazine are about other bands and this includes a poster. Many people would even buy this magazine ewven just for the poster if they really liked the band/artist. So putting the poster in is a very good way of selling this magazine.
